Context engineering beats prompt tricks for AI agents

Filed in: context engineering, AI

A few days back Anthropic's Applied AI team wrote "Effective context engineering for AI agents". This is something that I've been feeling but haven't yet put into words: getting the AI into the right "frame of mind" by supplying context and correct follow-on prompts is at least as important as the right seed prompt.

It lines up with recent themes on my blog: that effective AI work is management and context design, not wordsmithing (The power of the pause); that integration beats bolt‑ons (Smart AI integration comes only with knowledge); and that technical writers are becoming "context curators" so agents can truly RTFM (AI must RTFM).
